The owner’s photo has appeared in the Reserve: what it means and how it works

The Reserve app has an important update: from now on, the electronic document Reserve ID automatically displays a photo of a person liable for military service. This will greatly simplify the verification of documents when interacting with the military, police or other services. This is reported by the Ministry of Defense, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs
The updated feature is already available to all users if the latest version of the application is installed.
What has changed in the Reserve
The Ministry of Defense reported that photos will be automatically pulled from state registers, just like in digital documents of other government services.
Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Development Oksana Ferchuk explained:
“We want digital tools to provide tangible benefits in everyday situations. The availability of photos will make the verification of citizens’ documents faster and more transparent for everyone.”
This means that the verification of reservists and persons liable for military service will be faster and without unnecessary misunderstandings.
What the user needs to do
Update the Reserve application to the latest version.
Update the Reserve ID document inside the app.
After that, the photo will be uploaded automatically if the user has a biometric document.
Important nuances
The photo will appear only for users with a biometric passport.
For those who have a booklet passport, the photo will not be uploaded, but the document remains valid.
A backup ID without a photo has the same legal force as a document with a photo.
That is, the absence of a photo is not a violation.
Due to the high load, the photo may be pulled up more slowly.
If the photo does not appear within a few days, the application has the “Correct data online” function.
