The Servant of the People party commented on who could become the head of the committee instead of Shuliak

In addition, according to the sources Комерсант Українськийthe Verkhovna Rada is to consider the dismissal of Olena Shulyak from the post of chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on the Organisation of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning.

It has not yet been publicly announced who will succeed Shulyak as head of the Servant of the People party.

At the same time, according to sources, she is to be replaced as head of the Committee Комерсант Українськийsources, she is to be replaced by Servant of the People MP Vitaliy Bezgin.

[Kommersant] contacted the Servant of the People MPs to get first-hand information. We asked them who they plan to appoint as the head of the Committee on the Organisation of State Power instead of Shulyak.

As it turned out, the “servants” have not yet been informed of the decision.

MP Heorhiy Mazurashu suggests that one of the party’s deputies on the committee should replace her.

“If we think logically, one of my colleagues from the Servant of the People party, who is in the leadership of the committee, can be the head. But this is an “if”. So far, everything is at the level of rumours,”

Another member of the Servant of the People party, Andriy Bohdanets, also insists that there are only rumours, and the faction is not even discussing this issue.

However, if we follow Mazurash’s logic, Alina Zagoruyko or Oleksandr Kachura, who are currently her deputies and fellow party members, may be elected as the head of the committee instead of Shulyak. At the same time, one of the subcommittee chairmen may also be considered the “leadership”.

At the same time, Yuriy Kamelchuk confirmed that the rumours did exist and virtually confirmed the information of the sources that Shulyak’s successor as head of the committee will be the current head of the subcommittee on administrative and territorial structure and local self-government, Vitaliy Bezgin.

Vitaliy Bezgin

Vitaliy Bezgin was born on 18 April 1990 in Yevpatoriya. He studied at the Faculty of International Economics and Management of the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman and graduated with honours. In 2012-2015, he worked as a creative director at Scu Kyiv advertising agency, and since 2016 he has been an expert at BRDO.

In 2019, Bezgin was elected as a Member of Parliament of the IX convocation from the Servant of the People party. He became a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on the Organisation of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning, heading the Subcommittee on the Administrative and Territorial Structure of Ukraine and Local Self-Government. In 2019-2020, as the chairman of the specialised subcommittee, he worked on the final stage of decentralisation, in particular on the new zoning, which reduced the number of districts from 490 to 136.

on 7 December 2020, special economic sanctions were imposed on Bezgin by the Russian Federation. In 2021, the European Parliament recognised decentralisation as one of the most successful reforms, and the Servant of the People party awarded Bezghin the title of Decentraliser of the Year. In 2023, he became one of 12 MPs who, as of 1 April, voluntarily submitted their declarations for 2022 and 2021.

In January 2023, a controversial fact became known: in 2020, Bezghin issued a power of attorney for his share of housing in occupied Yevpatoria to his aunt Galina Gerasimova, who is a member of the pro-government Russian party United Russia. As Bezgin himself explained, this decision was made after consultation with the NACP in order to renounce the inheritance through a relative who is physically located in Yevpatoria.
