A plant in Smila that used to work for the defense industry is being privatized for UAH 10 million

On February 13, the State Property Fund held an auction for the privatization of the unified property complex of the state-owned enterprise Machine-Building Plant Orison in Cherkasy region. The winner of the auction was Promtorg Group LLC from Vyshneve, Kyiv region, according to Prozorro.Sale, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Two bidders competed for the asset. At a starting price of UAH 1.67 million, the winner of the auction offered a little more than UAH 10 million. The bid of the competitor, Cherkasy-based Continent-Group LLC, was less than UAH 100,000 higher than the starting price.
The winner will additionally have to pay more than UAH 2 million in VAT.
The machine-building plant located in the city of Smila has been out of business since 2012. The company used to manufacture navigation equipment for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
As of September 30, 2024, the plant employed one person and had accounts payable of UAH 15.6 million.
According to the terms of the privatization sale, the buyer of the UMK SE Machine-Building Plant Oryzon is obliged to pay off the company’s debts within six months and prevent the dismissal of employees.
