Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said that in the event of a trilateral meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the war in Ukraine would end “long before Christmas.”
The publication appeared on his page on the social network X, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
He believes that the key to a “just end to the war” is to create a deterrence infrastructure that former presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden failed to create. This will prevent a new conflict, the politician believes.
“If there is indeed a trilateral meeting between President Trump, President Zelensky and Putin, I am cautiously optimistic that this war will be over long before Christmas,” Graham said.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced the start of preparations for a trilateral meeting, which, in addition to him, will be attended by the leaders of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky. According to Trump, he does not want to be present, but he must be there to make sure that all the tasks are completed. The head of the White House noted that the parties have a “pretty good chance of doing that.”
