A meeting of the Ukrainian delegation with the American side has started in the United States to discuss further steps to achieve a just and sustainable peace.
The head of the delegation and Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov announced this on Telegram on November 30, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to him, the delegation is working under clear directives from the President of Ukraine – to protect the interests of the state, to engage in substantive dialogue and to promote the decisions developed during the meetings in Geneva.
“We are working for the sake of real peace for Ukraine and guaranteed security,” Umerov said.
The Ukrainian side will report to the president on the results of the talks. Earlier, Zelenskyy updated the composition of the Ukrainian delegation to the talks with the United States:
- Rustem Umerov – Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, head of the delegation;
- Oleksandr Bevz – Advisor to the Presidential Cabinet of the Presidential Office;
- Budanov Kyrylo – Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine;
- Andriy Hnatov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- Oleh Ivashchenko, Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine;
- Sergiy Kyslytsya, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine;
- Yevhen Ostriansky, First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council;
- Oleksandr Poklad, Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine;
- Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
The U.S. team includes Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. This is the second meeting of the delegations in this format after the talks in Geneva on November 23.
Axios agency, citing sources, writes that American and Ukrainian officials will hold talks in Miami before President Trump’s envoys travel to Moscow to meet with Putin.
During talks in Geneva last week, the parties reached agreements in principle on all but two issues: territory and security guarantees. A senior U.S. official told Axios that the White House wants to close the gaps on these last two issues on Nov. 20, adding, “The Ukrainians know what we expect from them.”
