The cost of holding nationwide elections after the war could range from 4.5 to over 6.5 billion hryvnia, depending on the type of campaign and the number of voting rounds. At the same time, the final figures may still be adjusted to take into account inflation and the security situation.
This was stated in an interview with the YouTube channel
“Elections of People’s Deputies of Ukraine or elections of the President of Ukraine in one round cost between 4.5 billion and 4.8 billion hryvnia. If a second round of voting is held, a repeat vote with the election of the President of Ukraine, the cost of the presidential campaign increases to just over 6.5 billion hryvnia,” Dubovyk said.
According to him, the calculations were made at the end of 2024 at the request of the Ministry of Finance and covered the entire territory of Ukraine, including the temporarily occupied territories. At the same time, part of the costs are reduced due to the impossibility of voting in the occupied territories, but the costs of organizing polling stations abroad are increasing.
“Up to 70% of all expenses are salaries for members of district and precinct election commissions,” he added.
