The Pope was presented with a dove of peace made from the wreckage of a church in Kyiv damaged by a Russian missile attack. This was reported by the Roman Catholic Church of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The dove of peace was created by artist Yana Targonya. She made the drawing in the colors of the Ukrainian flag on a piece of glass. It is written in Italian: “A piece of stained glass, from the facade of the Church of St. Nicholas 20.12.2024.”

“This is a part of our heart, which is filled with love, suffering and drops of Jesus Christ’s blood,” said Yuriy Tandit, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the St. Nicholas Church, holding the artist’s work.
The artwork will be delivered to the Vatican by Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, who visited St. Nicholas Church, which was damaged by the Russian attack on Christmas Eve.

As reported, on December 20, Russian occupants launched a missile attack on Kyiv. The Church of St. Nicholas was damaged. The parish priest, Fr. Pavlo Vyshkovskyy, OMI, spoke about the consequences for the church caused by the Russian missile attack on the capital.
“As we can see, nothing is sacred to our enemy. Last Friday morning was tragic for us, because our church is already suffering from destruction. These days, the parishioners have cleaned up the stained glass and ordinary glass broken by the blast wave on their own, and at their own expense have already glazed the rosette and windows in the towers with polycarbonate, and hired a company to remove the hanging parts of the stained glass to preserve it and restore it in the future,” he said.
