Digital entry system to the Schengen area launched in Yahodyna and Ustyluh

The digital entry/exit system to the Schengen area (Entry/Exit System, EES) has been fully implemented at Volyn border crossing points.

This was reported by the press service of the Volyn Customs, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“Starting from November 3, 2025, all travelers crossing the border through Yahodyn and Ustyluh from the Polish side must first register at a self-service terminal or with a border guard officer. This involves scanning a passport and collecting biometric data: taking a photo and fingerprints. Fingerprints are not required for children under 12 years of age. During subsequent entries, the biometric data will be checked against the existing Schengen digital information,” the statement said.

It is noted that the introduction of the system at the beginning may lead to an increase in the time required for control procedures.

“Therefore, we recommend planning trips with more time to spare or choosing alternative border crossing points,” the customs emphasizes.

What is EES – how the new system of entry to the European Union works

The EES procedure (stands for Entry\Exit System) was introduced on October 12 to control the flow of people entering the European Union and the Schengen area. The new rules for crossing the border with the EU affected not only Ukrainians, but also citizens of other countries that are not members of this economic union.

Now, instead of the usual stamp in the passport, tourists crossing the EU border will have to undergo a procedure to collect important biometric data. At the same time, a person will have to agree to the processing of his or her personal data, which will be stored in the system.
