A “washing machine” for people has been introduced in Japan, NDTV reports, citing "Komersant Ukrainian".
The device, developed by the tech company Science, is a capsule in which a person can lie down, close the transparent lid and go through a full cleaning cycle – without rotation, but with soothing music and lighting effects.
The presentation of the device attracted huge queues at Expo Osaka 2025. According to the company’s representative Sachiko Maekuri, the new device is designed to “wash not only the body but also the soul.” The machine is equipped with sensors that monitor the user’s heart rate and vital signs throughout the process.
High interest from international companies, including an American resort operator, pushed Science to commercialize the prototype. The first customer was a hotel in Osaka, which plans to offer guests a unique spa service.
Due to the high cost and novelty, production is limited – the company plans to produce about 50 units of such “washing machines”. The cost of one will be about $385 thousand.
