EU announces preliminary date for approval of confiscation of Russian assets

European Union countries are planning to make a decision on Russia’s frozen sovereign assets at the end of October. This was reported by Politico, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

It is noted that the first discussion will take place at the summit of EU leaders in Copenhagen. The purpose of this meeting is to secure sufficient support from other states to isolate Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, as he opposes the confiscation of Russian assets.

At the same time, the publication notes that the EU is still “struggling to take a leading position” and its ability to curb the activities of the Russian Federation “seems limited.”

Europe is gradually coming to realize a simple truth: in the face of threats, both external and internal, unity is needed. Today, it is not just a matter of security; it is a matter of the future of the world order.

If democracies want to survive in an increasingly aggressive and multipolar world, they cannot afford to be weak.

One of the key solutions on this path is the transfer of frozen Russian sovereign assets for the defense of Ukraine and Europe, as well as for the reconstruction and compensation of victims of Russian aggression.
