Russian Armed Forces strike on Kyiv: mourning is declared in the capital (photos)

The Kyiv city authorities have declared 9 July a Day of Mourning in the capital in connection with the terrorist attack by the Russian Armed Forces on civilian objects in Kyiv. This was reported by [Kommersant] citing the official Telegram channel of Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
On this day, flags on all municipal buildings in the city will be at half-mast. It is also recommended that state flags on public and private buildings be flown at half-mast.
on 9 July, any entertainment events are banned in the city. The city authorities also asked TV channels and radio stations not to broadcast entertainment content on this day.
Explosions in Kyiv today: what is known
On Monday, 8 July, Russia attacked Kyiv twice with missiles. The missile strikes killed 20 people and injured almost 100 Kyiv residents.
One of the missiles hit the building of the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital just as one of its young patients was undergoing surgery. Two adults have been reported dead, one of whom was a 30-year-old nephrologist.

A rocket hit a residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district (Syrets) of the capital, damaging the entrances, one of which was completely destroyed. At least 17 families were left without apartments. Rescuers had to pull people out of the rubble. In addition, an apartment building located opposite the destroyed one was damaged.

And in the Holosiivskyi district, an explosion damaged a kindergarten. The director of the kindergarten, Oksana Zharkykh, told about this on the air of the national telethon.
“During the alarm, children and teachers were in the shelter. No one was injured,” said the head of the kindergarten.
It is known that the rocket fell and detonated between the kindergarten building and a multi-storey building opposite it. One wall of the residential building is missing: the bare boxes of the apartments are visible.
Also, in the afternoon, the occupiers hit a private medical facility “Isis” in Kyiv with a rocket. This is a private maternity hospital in the Dnipro district of the capital. According to the prosecutor’s office, 7 people died on the spot, three were injured.

In addition, three DTEK transformer substations were completely destroyed or damaged in Kyiv. It happened in Holosiivskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts of the capital. Power engineers are already working on the spot. Most of the buildings will be powered from backup sources in the near future.
