A blow to those who save: Russia attacks fire station, wounds 12 rescuers

As a result of the Russian attack on the Stepnohirsk community in Zaporizhzhia region, 12 employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine were injured. Initially, four wounded were reported, but later eight more rescuers sought medical assistance.
This was reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhya regional military administration Ivan Fedorov, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the report, the enemy used FPV drones, striking at the building of the fire department, as well as at service vehicles that were in motion. The shelling damaged the building and equipment.
All 12 wounded rescuers were hospitalized.
The condition of one of them, a 48-year-old employee, is assessed by doctors as extremely serious. The rest are in moderate condition.
Russian troops continue targeted attacks on Ukrainian rescuers performing their duties in the combat zone. These attacks not only violate international humanitarian law, but also demonstrate the enemy’s desire to destroy critical infrastructure and demoralize the civilian population.
Cases of shelling of rescuers:
Stepnohirsk, Zaporizhzhia region (December 12, 2024): Russian forces attacked the village of Stepnohirsk with guided aerial bombs. One of the shells hit near the building of the fire and rescue unit, injuring three rescuers. They were hospitalized in medical institutions, their condition is stable.
Novoandriivka, Polohiv district (May 19, 2024): While extinguishing a fire caused by a previous shelling, rescuers came under repeated attack. One SES officer was injured by shrapnel.
Natalivka, Zaporizhzhia region (March 18, 2022): While extinguishing a fire caused by enemy shelling, rescuers were hit again. As a result, senior firefighter Yevhen Donets was killed and five of his colleagues were injured.
