Russia strikes energy sector: emergency power cuts introduced in Kyiv and most regions
7 February 09:12
Russia has carried out another massive attack on Ukraine’s power grid. As a result of the damage caused by the enemy, emergency power cuts have been introduced in Kyiv and most regions.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Ukrenergo on Telegram.
“The previously published hourly power outage schedules are no longer valid. Emergency power cuts will be canceled once the situation in the power grid stabilizes. Please follow the announcements on the official websites of your region’s power companies,” Ukrenergo said.
The company also urged the public to follow the announcements on the official websites of regional power companies to stay informed about the current situation with power outages.
Attack on the power grid on February 7
On the night of February 7, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine’s power grid. The enemy used both drones and cruise missiles. Western regions were also hit, with reports of shelling in Volyn, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, and elsewhere.
According to reports from the Air Force and local authorities, missiles in western Ukraine were recorded in at least Khmelnytskyi, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv regions.
The enemy targeted thermal power plants—for example, there were reports that the Burshtyn power plant could be hit, but the details are still unknown.
