The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine publishes a three-dimensional diagram of the Russian Orion UAV, as well as information about 43 enterprises involved in its production, in the “Means of Destruction” section of the “Weapons Components” portal of the War & Sanctions portal.

The information was published by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“Orion (also known as Inokhodets) is a strike and reconnaissance UAV manufactured by the sanctioned Russian group of companies Kronstadt.

Weighing about one ton with a straight wing and V-shaped tail fin, the device is capable of carrying up to 250 kg of payload, which can include aerial photography systems, radio reconnaissance modules, optoelectronic systems, KAB-20 corrected bombs, X-50 and X-UAV missiles, etc.

In addition, Orion is the carrier of the new Russian S8000 “parcel” cruise missile, the components of which were previously published by the Main Intelligence Directorate.

The Orion has a range of up to 250 km (with a repeater – up to 300 km) and a flight duration of up to 30 hours. For such tactical and technical characteristics and a competitive price, the Russian media loudly nicknamed it the “Bayraktar killer.”

The GUR also publishes data on 43 Russian companies that are part of the Orion production cooperation.

One third of them are not currently under sanctions by any of the countries of the sanctions coalition, which creates a real possibility of continuing the supply of critical components and continuing the war against Ukraine.

The identified companies include manufacturers of optoelectronic systems, ground communication stations, and polymer-composite materials for airframes.

Developments such as Orion pose a threat not only to Ukraine but also to the civilized world as a whole: technologies and components can be transferred to Russia’s allies, including Iran and the DPRK, which increases the risk of their military use in other regions.

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine emphasizes that companies supplying products to the Russian military-industrial complex should be cut off from international supply chains for raw materials and components.

Synchronization of sanctions and control over their implementation are key mechanisms that can deprive the aggressor of access to critical technologies and slow down its military capabilities.
