19 February 10:07

On the night of February 19, Ukrainian drones attacked an oil depot in the city of Velikie Luki in the Pskov region, according to the region’s governor, Mikhail Vedernikov.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Russian propaganda media.

According to Vedernikov, one of the tanks containing petroleum products caught fire. No casualties have been reported. According to media reports, after the air raid siren was sounded, employees of the oil depot and nearby enterprises were evacuated. The tanks at the depot were protected by a special net, but according to eyewitnesses, several drones broke through it and hit the facility.

The Velikie Luki oil depot supplied fuel to Russian gas stations

The Velikie Luki oil depot is owned by Pskovneftprodukt LLC. It stores diesel fuel, gasoline, and other petroleum products, which are distributed to a network of gas stations, businesses, and transport companies in the region.

The depot had previously been attacked by Ukrainian drones in April 2024. At that time, it did not suffer significant damage.

Other Ukrainian drone strikes on oil depots

Earlier this week, on February 17, drones struck a tank at an oil depot in the village of Volna in the Krasnodar region. The fire covered an area of more than 1,200 square meters. On January 23, a Rosneft oil depot in Penza was hit, and it took two days to extinguish the fire. On January 10, an oil depot in the Volgograd region was attacked, which also caught fire.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, 113 Ukrainian aircraft-type drones were “intercepted and destroyed” over Russian territory last night by air defense forces. The largest number – 50 – were over the Bryansk region, 35 over the Smolensk region, 12 over the Tver region, 10 over the Novgorod region, as well as 4 over the Leningrad region and two over the Kaluga region. The Pskov region is not mentioned in the military department’s report.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces began systematically striking oil depots and refineries in August 2025. In total, over the past year, the Ukrainian military carried out about 160 successful attacks, said former head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk. According to him, the largest number of targets were hit in September and October. At that time, six oil refineries, two oil terminals, three oil depots, and nine oil pumping stations were attacked.
