Naftogaz held talks with a Greek delegation regarding an increase in liquefied natural gas supplies via Greek ports. This was announced by Serhiy Koretskyi, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

“We met with a Greek delegation led by Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Gary Theocharis, Greek Ambassador to Ukraine Pantelis Alexandros Dimitrakopoulos, and executives of Greek companies,” Koretsky wrote on Facebook.

According to him, they discussed expanding cooperation on LNG supplies to Ukraine via Greek ports using the Vertical Gas Corridor.

“Special attention was paid to the possibilities of increasing gas supply volumes—both for Ukraine and for the Eastern European region via Greek ports. We briefed our colleagues on the situation in the gas sector following the most challenging heating season amid constant attacks,” Koretsky wrote.

According to him, an important area is the active participation of Greek companies in the restoration and modernization of our infrastructure. We also discussed the possibilities of attracting grant and donor funding to implement these projects.

In addition, Ukraine and Greece paid special attention to diesel fuel supplies. Due to the destruction of domestic refineries as a result of Russian attacks, the country has become almost entirely dependent on fuel imports from Europe.

“We also discussed the supply of diesel fuel, the use of the Greek fleet, and other mutually beneficial projects,” Koretsky noted.

As a reminder:

Ukraine, together with neighboring countries, has launched two new inter-state routes for natural gas imports—Route 2 and Route 3—as part of the “Vertical Corridor initiative.

Earlier reports indicated that Greece has begun positioning itself as Europe’s southern “gateway” for liquefied natural gas imports, primarily from the U.S., as the European Union prepares to impose a complete ban on Russian gas supplies by 2027.
