What is happening in Lebanon
Israel is attacking Lebanon because it is the centre, centre and extensive network of the Shiite militant organisation Hezbollah. The group considers Israel its mortal enemy and is recognised as a terrorist organisation by most Western governments and even the Arab League. Nevertheless, Hezbollah is actively involved in Lebanese political life and is a very influential political force in the country and in the region. Many commentators call the organisation a proxy of Iran, i.e. a group acting in its interests.
Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry advised Ukrainians to refrain from travelling to Lebanon in late July, just before an Israeli air strike on the capital Beirut. on 18 September, pagers, mobile phones and other equipment began to explode en masse in Lebanon. Israel has not claimed responsibility for this act, but it is believed that in the vast majority of cases, Hezbollah members were killed or injured in the explosions.
In response , Hezbollah fired more than 100 rockets into Israel from Lebanon. After that, Israel launched limited ground operations on the border with Lebanon, and on the night of 1 October, Israeli ground forces invaded Lebanon. In response , Iran attacked Israel with 180 missiles.
