Ukraine is importing more and more electric cars: the numbers are impressive

In August, 9274 electric vehicles were imported to Ukraine, more than twice as many as in the same month last year. This was reported by the State Customs Service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to customs statistics, imports of electric vehicles in Ukraine increased significantly in August 2025. According to the State Customs Service, 9,274 electric cars were imported into the country during the month, which is more than twice as many as in the same period last year (4,146 cars).
New and used electric cars
Among the imported cars, 1,997 were new, and 7,277 were from the secondary market.
The total customs value of electric vehicles that arrived in Ukraine in August reached approximately UAH 8.1 billion, while in August 2024 this figure was UAH 3.8 billion.
Budget payments and benefits
Imports of electric cars brought UAH 31.9 million in customs payments to the state budget, while in August 2024 the amount was only UAH 12.6 million. At the same time, the volume of customs duty exemptions for the import of electric vehicles in August 2025 exceeded UAH 1.6 billion, which is twice as much as last year (UAH 0.78 billion).
Market trends
The growth in imports of electric cars indicates an increased demand for environmentally friendly transportation in Ukraine. A significant share of the imports are from the secondary market, which allows Ukrainians to switch to electric vehicles faster and stimulates the development of charging station infrastructure and services for electric vehicles.
