As of the end of 2025, 218 cities in Europe can be reached by bus from Ukraine, with more than 1,000 routes.

This was announced during the forum of bus transportation “Connecting Cities and People” by Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Serhiy Derkach, [ komersant ] reports citing Ukrinform.

“Today, bus routes connect Ukraine with 218 cities in 25 European countries. We have 1,090 registered routes with almost 700 carriers,” Derkach said.

According to the Ministry of Development, most routes are registered from Ukraine to Poland (368), Moldova (180) and the Czech Republic (132). At the same time, the leaders in terms of final destinations are Poland (57 cities), Italy (39) and Germany (34).

According to the Deputy Minister, despite so many opportunities for international flights, the demand for them is still not satisfied under closed skies. Countries with the potential to open new routes include Moldova, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, and Germany.

Next year, as part of the international transportation reform, the Ministry of Development plans to update the Procedure for Transportation and Opening of Routes, verify the current routes to make room for the actual ones instead of the ones that are not being fulfilled.

There are plans to extend the eCheckpoint slotting service to other checkpoints where it is not yet available and to modernize the electronic border crossing booking system.

Separately, Derkach noted that the Ministry is working with banks to simplify the conditions for carriers to receive preferential loans under the 5-7-9% program to upgrade their bus fleet.

“We understand that it is not so easy to upgrade transport today. Buses are expensive, so today we are working with banks to offer the market a model for using the 5-7-9% program to upgrade rolling stock, which is often denied to businesses in the transport sector. Especially when it comes to companies registered in the frontline regions,” the Deputy Minister added.
