Ukraine may receive Tomahawk missiles: Zelensky hints at support from Europe

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that in order for the Russian Federation to feel the significant and tangible consequences of a full-scale war, Ukraine needs long-range missile systems, including Tomahawk. Zelenskyy called on the international community to support all efforts to provide Ukraine with the means to effectively influence and put pressure on the aggressor.
The head of state made this statement on October 23 during his participation in a meeting of the European Council, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
He emphasized that when we talk about long-range weapons for Ukraine, the Putin regime must feel the real consequences of the war. He called on partners to support everything that will help Ukraine get such capabilities, because it really has a significant impact on Russia.
“This long-range weapon is not only in the United States, but also in some European countries, including Tomahawks. We are already talking to countries that can help. When Putin avoids diplomacy, when he bluffs or intensifies terror, strong pressure should bring him back to reality,” the Head of State emphasized.
Ukraine has not yet received Tomahawk
As you know, on October 17, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with US President Donald Trump in Washington.
It was expected that after this meeting, the United States would announce its decision to provide Ukraine with Tomahawk, but Washington was not yet ready for this.
The US leader said that “the United States also needs Tomahawks, even though the US army has a lot of these missiles.”
However, a little later, Washington assured that the decision to transfer Tomahawks to Ukraine was still open, as stated by Vice President J.D. Vance.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy speculated that the US refusal to provide Tomahawk long-range missiles to Ukraine right now could have been influenced by Trump’s dialogue with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, which took place before the leaders’ summit in Washington.
The United States did not approve the transfer of long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine because it takes a person 6 months to a year to learn how to use them.
