Ukraine has prepared a detailed plan to win the war, which Zelenskyy will submit to US President Joe Biden in September. And the key point of this plan is to force Russia to peace. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with journalists, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
“The main point in this plan is to force Russia to end the war. And I really want it to be fair for Ukraine. And if this plan is adopted, and the second thing: to adopt is one thing, and to implement is another. If these two elements work, we really believe that the main goal will work,”
– zelenskyy said.
He added that Ukraine’s offensive in the Kursk region is also part of this plan.
“Kursk is part of the plan that I will talk about with President Biden,”
– the president said.
Russia and peace enforcement
“Peace enforcement is a concept in international relations that involves the use of military force or economic sanctions to end an armed conflict and establish peace. This concept was developed within the framework of UN peacekeeping operations and involves more active actions than traditional peacekeeping.
However, the term “peace enforcement” has become notorious for its misuse by the Russian Federation. In 2008, Russia used the term to justify its aggression against Georgia. The Russian leadership described its military actions in South Ossetia and Abkhazia as an “operation to force Georgia to peace”. This was an attempt to give legitimacy to the military intervention and occupation of part of Georgian territory.
The use of the term “peace enforcement” by Russia in the context of the war against Georgia was widely condemned by the international community as manipulative and contrary to international law. This case was an example of how an aggressor can abuse peacekeeping terminology to justify its aggressive actions.
