Ukraine criticizes the performance of the Turkish Choir at the UN: “It’s more like a dance on bones”

Ukraine has sharply criticized the performance of the Russian “Turkish Choir” at the UN General Assembly, considering it an attempt by Russia to appropriate the victory in World War II and use it for propaganda purposes.
This was stated by Acting Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Khrystyna Haiovyshyn, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
She emphasized that the group is not a neutral cultural project, but has long served as a tool of Kremlin propaganda, including support for aggression against Ukraine.
“On Monday, this hall was used for a so-called commemorative concert, which in fact turned into a platform for propaganda about the ‘Great Patriotic War’ – it’s more like a dance on bones,” Haiovyshyn said.
She also condemned Russia’s attempts to claim an exclusive role in the victory over Nazism, emphasizing that modern Russia is increasingly imitating the practices of the Third Reich. According to her, Moscow, hiding behind the language of anti-Nazism, justifies its own crimes against humanity.
“While we are honoring the victims of World War II, Russian missiles and drones are shelling Ukrainian hospitals, schools and residential buildings, killing civilians, including children and people with disabilities,” the representative of Ukraine added.
As a reminder, on May 6, the UN General Assembly building in New York hosted a concert with the participation of the Turetsky Choir and the Soprano Ensemble dedicated to Victory Day. The group performed Soviet songs, including Katyusha and Victory Day. Before the concert, Russian representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya made a statement about the decisive contribution of the USSR to the victory over Nazism.
It is worth noting that the founder of the choir, Mikhail Turetsky, openly supports the war against Ukraine, and the choir has repeatedly performed for the Russian military and in the occupied territories.
