Ukraine becomes 179th member country of the International Fund for Rural Development

After Ukraine joins the International Fund for Rural Development, Ukrainian producers will have access to low-cost financial resources, grant support, and participation in the Fund’s tenders for the purchase of goods and services. This was announced by Vitaliy Koval, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
According to the official, joining the International Fund for Rural Development is a strategic step that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy has been working on.
What you need to know about the International Fund for Rural Development (IFAD)
IFAD is the only United Nations agency fully focused on agricultural transformation, rural economic development and food systems.
IFAD’s priority is the development of small-scale farming. The Fund’s support will help producers increase their competitiveness, strengthen their market position and influence the development of the country’s agricultural sector as a whole.
Ukrainian producers will now have access to low-cost financial resources and investments, in particular in the following areas:
▪ increasing productivity
▪ increasing revenues
▪ innovative technologies
▪ resilience to crises and climate change.
