Ukraine will prosecute one of Russia’s key manufacturers of attack drones

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine announced that an indictment against the head of the Russian company Zala Aero Group has been filed with the court, according to [Komersant].

He is accused of aiding and abetting the waging of an aggressive war against Ukraine, committed by a group of individuals acting in concert.

The charges are classified under the following articles:

  • Part 5 of Article 27
  • Part 2 of Article 28
  • Part 2 of Article 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

One of the key manufacturers of drones for the Russian military

According to the investigation, since 2022, the company has become one of the main suppliers of drones to the Russian military.

Among the models mentioned in the case:

  • Lancet
  • Cube
  • Zala
  • Italmas

According to the prosecutor’s office, these drones are used to strike targets in Ukraine, particularly civilian infrastructure.

18,000 drones for war

The investigation alleges that the defendant:

  • organized the mass production of UAVs,
  • ensured their delivery to the Russian army.

In total, according to law enforcement officials, at least 18,000 drones were manufactured and transferred for use in the war against Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine, specifically its Main Investigation Department.

Suspicions against Russian defense companies

This is not the first case against leaders of the Russian military-industrial complex.

According to the investigation, he organized the supply of significant quantities of automotive equipment to the Russian armed forces, which also constitutes aiding and abetting in the waging of an aggressive war against Ukraine.
