Ukraine and the United Kingdom have signed a license agreement for the production of the Ukrainian Octopus interceptor drone.

This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Telegram of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

“Together with our allies, we are developing the air defense capabilities of Ukraine. The delegations of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom signed a license agreement on the Ukrainian Octopus interceptor drone,” Shmyhal said.

According to him, this is a historic precedent and the next important step that will allow the production of Ukrainian interceptors in the UK, which have proven effective in the fight against the Shahed.

The minister noted that mass production of interceptors is planned, which could reach several thousand per month. The manufactured equipment will be transferred to Ukraine to strengthen its air defense.

Production of Octopus interceptor drones

In early November, it became known that Ukraine had launched mass production of the Octopus interceptor drone, which is designed to counter Russian Shahed attack drones.

Three manufacturers have already received the necessary technology to produce Octopus drones. Another 11 manufacturers are preparing production lines for them.

Octopus is a Ukrainian small unmanned interceptor designed to intercept and destroy disposable Shahed and similar attack drones. The system has already proven its effectiveness on the battlefield and has become the basis for an international industrial program for mass production.

It is known that the drone is jointly produced by Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

Ukraine and the United States have also started producing interceptor drones that are capable of fighting Russian attack drones, but it is not known whether this is the Octopus.
