Ukraine is among the largest users of cryptocurrencies in the world

In Ukraine, about 11% of the population uses cryptocurrency, the highest level among the countries with which the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) cooperates. This is reported in the published review of Regional Economic Prospects, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs
Nigeria, Ukraine and Turkey demonstrate the highest rates of digital asset utilization.
Ukraine is among the leaders in terms of crypto transactions in Europe.

“Ukraine is also actively using cryptocurrencies. Between July 2023 and July 2024, the country received $106 billion in cryptocurrency revenues and spent about $882 million in hryvnia equivalent on buying Bitcoin. The market growth was mainly driven by institutional transactions ($1-10 million) and professional transactions ($10,000-1 million),” the document says.
Among the approximately 560 million cryptocurrency holders in the world, 37 million (7%) live in countries where the EBRD operates.
In Ukraine, approximately 11% of citizens own cryptocurrency, the second highest rate among the 147 countries covered by the study. The first place is taken by the United States, where more than 15% of the population uses digital assets.

The top 10 leaders also include Nigeria, Turkey, Morocco, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
Experts noted that as of mid-2024, the total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies in the world reached approximately USD 4 trillion, which is 57% higher than a year earlier. The volume of the stablecoin market was estimated at USD 272 billion, or about 7% of the entire crypto market. Tether and USDC account for the bulk of the market, with a combined share of about 85%.
