Suspilne Broadcasting has officially confirmed Ukraine’s participation in the 69th International Eurovision Song Contest 2025, which will be held in Switzerland following the victory of Nemo in the 2024 contest. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to UA: PBC.
According to the chairman of the board of Suspilne, Mykola Chernotytskyi, this contest has long ceased to be just a traditional music competition for Ukraine, turning into an important platform for communication with the world.
“It is important that Ukraine does not leave the front pages of the world’s media, so that the world remembers the war that Russia is waging against us. The Eurovision Song Contest is a key element of cultural diplomacy, and UA:PBC will do everything possible to ensure that our country is represented as well as possible,” Chernotytskyi said.
In addition, the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Eurovision Song Contest Oksana Skybinska shared her vision of Ukraine’s future participation:
“‘Stefania’ and ‘Teresa & Maria’ have resounded loudly throughout Europe, reminding us of the strength of the Ukrainian spirit and the need to support Ukraine in times of war. Now it is extremely important for us that Ukraine continues to be seen and heard, and that our relevant messages are heard even louder and more insightful. So we are starting a new season of Ukraine’s preparation for the Eurovision Song Contest, this year in Basel, and we are preparing new surprises.”
It should be noted that Ukraine’s representatives alyona alyona & Jerry Heil took third place with the song “Teresa & Maria” and a production by two-time Grammy nominee Tanya Muinho. With their performance, the artists cemented Ukraine’s status as the only country in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest to have reached the final every year since its first participation in 2003.
the 69th Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Basel, Switzerland’s third most populous city.
The Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will be held at the St. Jakobshalle on Saturday, 17 May, and the semi-finals will take place on 13 and 15 May 2025.
The full list of participating countries will be announced later this year.
