Ukraine is already in World War III: what are the (un)accidental statements of Ukrainian and British generals?

Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom and former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi has made the world take a closer look at the situation around the war in Ukraine with his recent statements. He sent a clear signal: World War III has begun. In the context of escalating international tensions, in particular due to the involvement of Russia’s allies, publicist and TV presenter Andriy Bulgarov in an exclusive commentary for Komersant ukrainskyi notes that Zaluzhny’s words contain a hidden message and a powerful message to the entire geopolitics. What the ex-Chief meant and what the British general’s statement about his readiness to fight with Russia even “tonight” means – further in the article.
Zaluzhnyi is more than a military leader, his personality is gaining political significance, the journalist believes.
“Valeriy Zaluzhnyi is not only a general who, together with his team, saved Ukraine at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, but also a political figure. With every statement he makes, he shapes the agenda not only in Ukraine but also abroad. His words are listened to carefully in Western capitals. This is a politician of a new format who has a huge support among Ukrainians, even more than the current president,”
– explains Bulgarov.
According to the publicist, Zaluzhny’s statements should be viewed in the context of the escalating confrontation between Russia and the West. Iranian drones, North Korean troops and intercontinental missiles are not just elements of the war in Ukraine, they are components of a global conflict that is increasingly acquiring the features of World War III.
“When Russia fires intercontinental missiles, when North Korean troops are used, it is no longer a local war. This is a global conflict. And Western countries should call themselves Ukraine’s allies, not just partners. Because this is no longer business, it is war. The world’s evil is Putin. If we, together with our allies, do not defeat him, the whole world will be ruined. That’s what Zaluzhny meant,”
– said Andriy Bulgarov.
At the same time, Bulgarov emphasizes that Zaluzhny’s appointment as ambassador to the UK is a strategic step:
“Zaluzhny is in London not by chance. His statements are part of a coordinated strategy to strengthen the allies’ support for Ukraine,”
– the journalist notes.
That is, this is not just a call. It is a strategic direction: to prepare for a post-Putin world. The West must realize that participation in this conflict is not a choice, but a necessity. Because the hybrid war is already underway, Bulgarov summarized.
“Britain is ready to fight Russia”
Following Russia’s launch of a ballistic missile at Ukraine and Zaluzhny’s words about the outbreak of World War III, a high-ranking official of the British Armed Forces also made a resonant statement.
Deputy Chief of Staff of the British Defense Ministry Rob Magowan spoke to the Parliamentary Defense Committee, emphasizing that the UK is ready to act immediately in case of escalation by Russia.
“If the British army was asked to fight tonight, it would fight tonight. And I don’t think anyone in this room is under any illusions that if the Russians invade Eastern Europe, we will meet them in that battle,”
– Magowan said.
The words of the Deputy Chief of the British Defense Staff were another reminder of the need for NATO and its allies to be prepared for a possible escalation in Eastern Europe.
After Zaluzhny and Magowan’s statements, Western media began discussing the possibility of increasing military support for Ukraine and strengthening NATO’s defense posture in Eastern Europe. This also demonstrates that the confrontation is gaining new dimensions, and that the allies’ support for Ukraine remains a key element in ensuring global security. Time will tell whether such steps can deter further escalation and force Russia to reconsider its plans.
