The amount of financing for additional gas imports is about 2 billion euros, which Ukraine will raise from internal reserves and assistance from partners.
This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko during an hour of questions to the government, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“The required amount of financing for additional gas imports is about 2 billion euros. It will be closed in two ways – the internal reserve and external assistance from partners. The internal reserve means the reserve fund, from which we actually allocated funds yesterday. It also includes financing of the banking sector of Ukraine and the activities of Naftogaz. The second part is assistance from our partners through grants and loans. We are talking about cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank. Norway is also providing us with a grant of 150 million,” she said.
Svyrydenko informed that today she had a meeting with the German Minister of Energy, “during which they announced an additional 60 million euros to the relevant fund, these funds will be used to import gas.”
The Prime Minister reminded that Ukraine planned to accumulate 13.2 billion cubic meters of gas in storage facilities. According to her, this goal has been achieved, but due to Russian attacks on the gas infrastructure, Ukraine “urgently needs to address the issue of additional gas imports.”
As a reminder, on October 23, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to allocate UAH 8.4 billion from the state budget reserve fund to ensure a stable heating season in 2025/2026.
