Ukraine completed the sowing season at the level of last year

Ukrainian farmers have successfully completed the fourth spring sowing campaign since the start of the full-scale war, reaching last year’s figures. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the results of the sowing campaign, 5.6 million hectares of spring grains and legumes were sown. The most active sowing took place in Poltava, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy and Sumy regions.

Increase in the area under spring wheat
This year’s season was characterized by a significant increase in the area under spring wheat, up to almost 220 thousand hectares. This growth was driven by high demand from processing companies and exporters.
Technical crops were planted on 7.7 million hectares, including:
- sunflower – 4.9 million hectares
- soybeans – 2.3 million hectares.
Ensuring food security
According to the Prime Minister, the planted areas are sufficient to meet Ukraine’s domestic food needs and build its export potential.
“Ukraine remains one of the guarantors of global food security and continues to support the agricultural sector,”
– the Head of Government emphasized.
