Ukraine had a chance to get the maximum number of quotas, five, as five Ukrainian athletes – three women and two men – took part in the selection process. However, in the end, we managed to get only three licences.

The Olympic breakaway tournament will include 32 participants – 16 men and 16 women. France, Japan and the United States will send the largest number of athletes (four each) to the competition. Breakdancing, also known as breakdancing, is a dynamic style of street dance that originated in the early 1970s in the South Bronx, New York. It is an integral part of hip-hop culture and one of the oldest and most famous hip-hop dance styles. Breakdancing combines elements of acrobatics, power movements and rhythmic dance steps performed to a specific music.

Breakdancing competitions are called battles, where dancers demonstrate their skills individually or as part of teams. This dance style requires a high level of physical fitness, coordination, strength and flexibility.

Breakdance is divided into lower (powermove, complex rotational movements on the floor) and upper (top rock, vertical movements). The most commonly used terms in breakdancing are uprock, footwork (foot movements in a sitting position), freezes (freezing in complex poses), spins (rotations on different parts of the body), suicides (sudden falls on the back, stomach, buttocks and other parts of the body).

In 2018, breakdancing was included in the programme of the Youth Olympic Games for the first time, and it will make its debut at the Olympic Games in Paris.
