Ukrainian business completes large-scale testing of underwear for servicewomen

In January 2022, the One for One initiative was launched to provide servicewomen with comfortable underwear sets. At the time of the initiative’s launch, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine had begun to provide underwear to female defenders, but in insufficient quantities – two pieces for two years.
The Ukrainian lingerie brand brabrabra launched an initiative in which the brand’s team developed kits for female servicewomen with the support of the Arm Women Now Foundation and the Veteranka Movement. Since the launch of the full-scale campaign, 445 sets of comfortable underwear have already been delivered to servicewomen based on the results of preliminary tests.
“The focus of our team is always on women and their comfort in underwear. It should not cause irritation or harm health. Military women have more requests: comfort for long wear, no fittings, no seams, double lining in certain places and much more,” says the brand’s Lingerie Lab. “It was a challenge to meet all these needs in underwear given the lack of international experience, but it seems we succeeded.”
The brand’s survey has already been completed by 113 servicewomen, which is enough to start producing a batch of underwear for the number of female defenders on the front line.
Such initiatives are about respect for servicewomen. Women are a powerful part of the army today. They, like men, need high-quality uniforms, anatomical body armour and, of course, tactical underwear. Our team at ArmWomenNow tirelessly implements many projects to help our defenders. And we are fully aware of how important the topic of comfort is when wearing things for a long time, especially underwear. Therefore, we are sincerely happy to be part of the One for One initiative and help our defenders who protect us every day,
– Iryna Nikorak, founder of Arm Women Now, comments on the initiative.
According to the test results, the top of the set received the maximum score, while the panties will need to be improved.

To speed up the provision of comfortable underwear for the servicewomen, the team has launched a fundraising campaign, which can be joined by both individuals and Ukrainian businesses. The fundraising goal is 5860000 UAH, of which 586 UAH is the cost of one set (bra and 2 panties) – 10,000 sets in total; packaging, testing of panties and logistics costs are covered by the brabrabra team.
All the efforts of our organisation in this phase of the war are aimed at meeting the urgent needs of the military, from drones to armoured vehicles, but thanks to the brabrabra brand, we also remembered how important comfort and convenience are in difficult conditions. We are grateful that together we were able to pass on some of our care to our sisters at the front,
– says Kateryna Pryimak, head of the Veteranka Movement.
The initiative was supported by such Ukrainian women as: Olha Rudneva, Olena Kravets, Daria Kvitkova and Nadiia Matveeva, as well as Ukrainian brands: leglo, karpatia, arena cs.
