Ukrainian Kateryna Sadurska becomes world freediving champion

Kharkiv resident Kateryna Sadurska has become a world champion in freediving, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
The athlete won a gold medal in the FIM free diving discipline with a score of 95 metres. According to the Kharkiv OVA, this is her third consecutive victory in this category at the world championships.

the 32-year-old freediver also updated the Ukrainian record in the mono-last dive with a score of 103 metres. This achievement earned her the fourth place in the world in the respective discipline.

The World Freediving Championships are taking place in Greece from 2 to 13 October. The competition involves 136 athletes from 44 countries. Kateryna Sadurska will take part in two more disciplines, so she has a chance to win more medals.

Kateryna Sadurska
Kateryna Sadurska, born on 19 July 1992 in Mykolaiv, has excelled in two water sports. She began her career in synchronised swimming, where she became a three-time bronze medallist at the 2013 World Aquatics Championships, as well as a two-time European champion and multiple medallist at European championships. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Sadurska took fourth place in the group competition as part of the Ukrainian national team.
Subsequently, Kateryna Sadurska successfully switched to freediving, where she also quickly achieved significant success. In 2021, she won a silver medal at the Kash Bashka Freediving World Championships in Turkey, and in 2022, she took first place at the World Championships. Sadurskaya specialises in the CNF (constant weight without fins) discipline, which is considered the most difficult in freediving.
In July 2023, at the Vertical Blue 2023 tournament in the Caribbean, she set a new absolute world record by diving to a depth of 77 metres. In August of the same year, she improved her result to 78 metres, and at the current championships in Greece, she set a new world record by reaching a depth of 80 metres in the constant weight without fins discipline.
