Why it is important
Agrarians working in livestock farming are suffering significant financial losses due to the war – the destruction of infrastructure, reduced production and falling demand in the domestic market.
The government aims to stimulate the restoration and modernization of livestock farms to preserve the industry and create new jobs in the regions.
At the end of August, the government announced plans to reimburse the costs of building or reconstructing livestock farms by the end of 2025.
Since the full-scale invasion, Ukraine’s agricultural policy has been focused on supporting export potential and domestic production, particularly in the meat and dairy sector.
According to specialized associations, the number of cattle in Ukraine has decreased by almost a third since 2022.
