Ukrainian tennis players confidently walk the Australian Open

Today, Ukrainians Lesia Tsurenko and Marta Kostiuk defeated their opponents in the second round of the tournament and reached the last 16.
Lesia Tsurenko, currently ranked 33rd in the WTA Women’s World Ranking, defeated Spain’s Rebecca Masarova (91st in the world rankings) in two sets – 6-3, 6-4.
Martha Kostiuk, the 37th seed in the world rankings, defeated Elise Mertens of Belgium (28th in the rankings), losing the match 5:7, 6:1, 7:6.
Two more Ukrainian tennis players are to play in the second round of the tournament. Elina Svitolina (23rd in the world) will play Bulgaria’s Victoria Tomova (No. 70), while Diana Yastremska(No. 93) will meet Varvara Gracheva (No. 39), who represents France.
The Russian-Belarusian athletes will not be spared. In the round of 16, Lesia Tsurenko will meet the second ranked player in the world rankings, Arina Sabalenka of Belarus, who is playing under neutral status and does not seem to represent her country. Marta Kostiuk will play against Russian Elina Avanesyan (No. 74), who is also playing without her country’s flag.
