Ukrainian farmers will be given modular granaries: who can apply
6 January 12:06
Ukraine is launching a new program to support farmers, under which farmers will be able to receive modular grain storage facilities free of charge. The initiative is being implemented by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine together with the FAO with financial support from the Canadian government.
The launch of the program was announced in the relevant ministry, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Who can participate in the program
The program is aimed at small and medium-sized agricultural producers who:
- work in Poltava, Rivne, Volyn or Zhytomyr regions;
- cultivate from 200 to 1,000 hectares of agricultural land;
- are registered in the State Agrarian Register (SAR).
The selected participants will receive modular grain storage facilities with a capacity of up to 1,000 tons each, which will allow them to store up to 100,000 tons of grain in total.
What is the purpose of the program?
The Ministry notes that the FAO program is aimed at:
- increasing the sustainability of Ukraine’s agricultural sector;
- expanding farmers’ access to modern grain storage infrastructure;
- reducing post-harvest losses;
- reducing logistics costs for agricultural producers.
A special priority in the selection of participants will be given to rye producers and women farmers, which, according to the organizers, is an important element in maintaining food security and gender balance in the agricultural sector.
“The situation with grain storage is particularly critical for rye producers. Reduction of its production creates risks for meeting the country’s domestic needs. Adequate storage facilities allow farmers to safely store their crops, get more favorable prices and determine the optimal time for selling their products,” said Denys Bashlyk, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
How to apply
You can apply for the program through the State Agrarian Register. Applications will be accepted until January 31, 2026.
The Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture emphasizes that submitting an application does not guarantee a grain storage facility, as the number of modules is limited and selection will be made on a competitive basis.
Farmers are urged to carefully read the terms of the program and submit documents in time to have a chance to take advantage of the new support opportunity.
