Ukrainian carriers have been facilitated to cross the border with Hungary

Starting today, international bus carriers at the Chop-Záhony checkpoint with Hungary will be able to cross the border according to a specific time (slot) booked in the eCheckout system. This was reported by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, the "Komersant Ukrainian".

Registration for the new type of queue, called “Scheduled”, began on February 7, and the new system started operating today at 12:00.

As explained by the Ministry, the launch of the slotted queue applies to both regular and irregular transportation: this means that all international carriers of passengers crossing the border must register for a specific time.

Scheduled carriers will be able to choose the time slots provided for in the official permit for the regular route. For irregular transportation, the slots for which no permit for a regular route has been issued or those that have not been used by carriers operating regular flights remain available.

“We would like to draw the attention of international carriers operating scheduled flights to the need to check the availability of all permits for scheduled routes in their eCheckout account. If you do not have the necessary permit in your account, please contact the support service at [email protected],” the Ministry of Communities and Territories emphasized.

In general, booking a specific time (slot) for crossing the border is already available at 23 checkpoints out of 28 where the eCheckpoint system operates. These are all checkpoints with Romania and Slovakia, 10 checkpoints with Moldova, and four with Poland.

How does “Scheduled Queue” work?

This service allows for a more efficient distribution of traffic flows and avoids congestion at the border.

Time slots are allocated in 1-hour increments, and each slot has a certain number of places available for registration.

For regular flights, the system automatically selects the available slot based on the data specified in the permit, which the carrier chooses to cross from the list. Registration in the scheduled queue for scheduled flights is possible 30 days before the expected date of crossing, provided that there is a free seat in the slot.

For irregular flights, registration in the slot queue is possible for any available slot 24 hours before the expected time of crossing, subject to availability of a free slot. Also, carriers planning an irregular flight can register 30 days before crossing the border, but only if the selected slot has not yet been issued for regular flights.

This system ensures an organized and controlled flow of buses at the checkpoints, minimizing waiting time and increasing convenience for carriers and passengers.

The eChezha project has been extended

The Cabinet of Ministers recently approved a resolution to extend the eCheck project for booking border crossing times for another two years. "Komersant Ukrainian"talked about it.

As part of the new project, it is planned to

– to scale the service to all types of vehicles crossing the border (cars, trucks less than 7.5 tons)

– to integrate with relevant systems to ensure priority in the queue in accordance with the Convention on Common Transit (T1), companies exporting goods under the TIR system or having the status of authorized economic operator

– to ensure automatic verification of a number of information at the time of registration in the system, such as the availability of an insurance policy (“green card”).

The list of pilot project participants has also been significantly expanded. These are the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the State Agency for Infrastructure Recovery and Development, the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety, the Administration of the State Border Guard Service, the State Customs Service, the State Enterprise “Diya”, the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine, business entities of waiting zones (service zones), and the budgetary institution “Information and Analytical Center for Road Transport”.
