Ukrainian war experience becomes a business: American company interested in UAV technologies

9 March 14:59

The sons of US President Donald Trump are investing in a new drone manufacturing company, Powerus, which plans to use Ukrainian drone technology.

This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

The startup is considering purchasing Ukrainian drone manufacturers or licensing their technologies to organize production under an American brand.

Plans to go public

The company plans to go public on the Nasdaq through a merger with the Aureus Greenway holding company.

This company owns several golf courses in Florida.

The holding’s shareholders include the American Ventures investment fund, which is associated with the Trump family, Unusual Machines, where Donald Trump Jr. is a shareholder and member of the advisory board, and the investment bank Dominari Securities.

Why the company is betting on drones

Powerus CEO Andrew Fox said that the drone market has much greater potential than the holding company’s traditional assets.

According to him, demand for drones is growing rapidly, particularly due to their use in the military.

Over the past six months, the company has acquired three small firms and is already selling aerial and marine drones.

Powerus plans to produce more than 10,000 drones per month.

Interest in Ukrainian technologies

Company co-founder Brett Velichkovich, a veteran of the US Special Operations Forces, confirmed that Powerus is in talks with Ukrainian manufacturers.

The goal is to acquire them or obtain licenses for technologies that will then be produced in the US.

Over the years of full-scale war, the Ukrainian defense industry has significantly developed drone production and has become one of the most dynamic sectors of the military industry.

Ukraine re-enters the arms market

Against the backdrop of growing production, Ukraine has partially returned to the international arms market.

In February 2026, the country resumed drone exports on a limited basis.

Valentin Badrak, director of the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies, had previously warned of the possible risks of such a decision, particularly due to the needs of the front.

Ukrainian drones are already being used by allies

Ukraine also recently sent interceptor drones and operators to protect US military bases in Jordan.

This indicates the growing role of Ukrainian drone technology in international security.
