Ukrainian textbook receives golden European award

A German textbook for the 2nd grade by Svitlana Sotnikova and Anna Gogoleva, published by the Kharkiv-based Ranok Publishing House, has won the gold medal at the Best European Learning Materials Awards. This was announced by the Ministry of Education and Science, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The winners of the BELMA award are determined in four categories: educational materials for children aged 0 to 8 years, students aged 8-12 years, students aged 12-17 years, and students of higher education institutions. The Ukrainian textbook received its gold award in the second category. This is the first award for Ukraine at the prestigious award for educational materials.

Every year, dozens of publishers from European countries take part in the competition. This year’s jury, which included professors from leading European universities, publishers, and learning experts, evaluated approximately 60 educational materials from 27 publishers. When selecting the best publications, they take into account the accessibility of the material, design, quality of content, and focus on the needs of the student.

This year, another textbook by Svitlana Sotnykova and Hanna Gogoleva, German Language. grade 7″. The publication was nominated for the main award in the third category of the award.

The awards were presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair. In addition to the award itself, the winners receive the right to use the award logo on the covers of their materials, which is a confirmation of the quality of the publication.

What is the BELMA award?

The Best European Learning Materials Awards (BELMA) is considered one of the most prestigious awards for educational publications. Since 2011, the award has been presented to the best educational materials in Europe. The award is organized by the European Association of Educational Publishers, the International Association for Textbook and Learning Media, and the Frankfurt Book Fair.
