Ukrainians have started paying alimony more actively: what caused this trend

In 2024, Ukrainians began to fulfil their child support obligations more responsibly, as significant arrears can lead to the loss of a deferment from mobilisation. The head of the Central Department of the Ministry of Justice, Kyrylo Minenko, said this during a telethon, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Minenko stressed that in 2024, alimony payments increased by 30%.
Minenko noted that a father with three minor children can receive a deferral from mobilisation only if he supports them or pays regular child support.
“If the alimony arrears exceed three months, it is actually considered that the father does not properly support his children, and in this case he may be deprived of a deferment from mobilisation,” said Minenko.
He added that such mechanisms of the state lead to the fact that Ukrainian citizens began to pay alimony more actively.
