Ukrainians are buying hybrids more often: the most popular models in September

Last month, more than 2,000 hybrid passenger cars (HEV and PHEV) were added to Ukraine’s car fleet. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Ukravtoprom.
This is 22% more than in September last year.
Top 3 new hybrid cars
According to the report, the share of new cars among imported cars was 60%, up from 59% in 2023.
In the segment of new passenger cars , TOYOTA RAV-4 remains the hybrid market leader (280 units).
TOYOTA Yaris Cross was second (79 units).
The third most popular is NISSAN Qashqai (56 units)
Top 3 used hybrid cars
In the registrations of imported used cars with hybrid powertrains, KIA Niro is the leader (54 units)
Also in the top three: FORD Fusion US (50 units) and TOYOTA Prius (49 units).
In total, from January to September 2024, Ukrainians purchased 53 thousand new passenger cars, which is 21% more than in the same period last year.
The statistics demonstrate the growing popularity of electric vehicles in Ukraine and indicate the regions where these cars are in greatest demand. The demand for electric vehicles grew by 68% over the year.
Meanwhile, the West is fighting the Chinese electric car industry: The EU is ready to take tough measures against Chinese electric cars, and the US will quadruple tariffs on them.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian new car market showed a significant recovery in July 2024.
It should be added that demand for cars with traditional engines is falling in Ukraine. Thus, in June 2024, cars with traditional engines accounted for more than 61% of the new passenger car market. Last year, this figure was 71%.
