Ukrainians continue to actively use the services of microfinance organizations (MFIs). In the third quarter of 2025 alone, they took out 2,138,569 microloans, borrowing more than UAH 13.7 billion from MFIs. This is evidenced by an analysis of financial statements conducted by Opendatabot, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Since the beginning of the year, the number of microloans issued has exceeded 6.5 million, and the total amount of such loans has reached UAH 40 billion.

The average microloan amount is growing

Despite the fact that the number of microloans decreased by about 2% during the quarter, the average loan amount increased:

  • uAH 6,417 in the third quarter of 2025 vs;
  • uAH 5,773 at the beginning of the year.

This means that Ukrainians are borrowing less frequently, but for larger amounts.

Debts to MFIs increased by a quarter

The repayment rate of microloans remains problematic. As of October 1, the total debt to MFIs reached UAH 25.15 billion, which is 26% more than at the beginning of the year.

Experts explain that the growth of debts is due to the difficult economic situation, high inflation, and declining incomes.
