It will be easier for Ukrainians to legalize in Poland – new rules of the residence card

13 August 14:33

It will become easier for Ukrainians living in Poland to apply for residence permits. The draft amendments to the Law on Foreigners approved by the Council of Ministers provide for the possibility of applying for residence permits fully online. This is reported by the In Poland portal, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs

The changes concern temporary and permanent residence permits in Poland, as well as long-term residence permits in the EU. This step is intended not only to simplify the procedure, but also to limit abuses by unscrupulous intermediaries.

To this end, Poland will introduce the electronic system Moduł Obsługi Spraw – MOS II, which will:

  • shorten the time for processing applications,
  • reduce the risk of fraud,
  • improve information exchange between voivodeship offices and special services.

These changes will be especially important for Ukrainian citizens who arrived after February 24, 2022 and are under temporary protection. They will be able to submit online applications for “residence cards” for up to three years.

In recent years, Poland has hosted the largest number of Ukrainian IDPs, many of whom have successfully integrated into society and are now able to meet their needs on their own.
