Significant energy price increases and tax hikes will inevitably affect the cost of key food products in the country. In particular, prices for meat products are expected to rise. This was stated by economic expert Andriy Novak in an exclusive commentary to Komersant ukrainskyi.
“The simultaneous increase in prices for electricity, fuel and taxes all affect the formation of prices in the direction of their increase. Almost all products, including agricultural ones, will become more expensive, as key elements of their cost have increased,”
– explains the expert.
According to him, the least noticeable rise in price will be for chicken, as it is the most popular meat in Ukraine and the market is overcrowded with it.

“Chicken has always been the most popular meat in Ukraine, and it is also the cheapest compared to other types of meat… If there is an increase in demand for chicken, prices will rise, but only slightly. In this market, we have quite high competition, which does not allow either the producer or the trader to raise the price too much,”
– says the economist.
As for pork, the forecasts are less optimistic – the rise in price could be quite significant.
“There are different forecasts today, especially after the tax increase. By the end of the year, the growth may be even 10-12%,”
– concludes Andriy Novak.
