The Ukrainian Defense Industry Joint Stock Company has launched the Return of Ukrainians program in Poland, which aims to enable compatriots to return from abroad and find employment at the company’s enterprises. This was reported by Ukroboronprom, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
It is noted that the program “Return of Ukrainians” provides internally displaced persons with the opportunity to get a prestigious and stable job in their homeland.
Currently, meetings and interviews with Ukrainian IDPs are taking place at the Ukroboronprom representative office in Poland. In the future, interviews will also be conducted online.
The motive for returning can be not only a prestigious job
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity Oleksiy Chernyshov previously claimed that 50% of men of military age are ready to return to Ukraine without waiting for the end of the war if the issue of reservations is resolved.
Later, he confirmed that the state offers Ukrainians abroad the opportunity to return to work in critical industries, including the defense industry. And the government, he said, is ready to reserve such specialists from military service.
As you know, a government decision allows defense and energy companies to reserve up to 100% of their employees.
Ukroboronprom is not the only one trying to bring Ukrainians back home
Under the auspices of the Ministry of National Unity, Ukrainian Unity Centers are currently being prepared to open in European countries. Joint declarations on the establishment of such centers have already been signed with Spain, Germany, France, and the Czech Republic. Negotiations are underway to open a hub in the UK.
It is planned to open such centers in countries where there is a large presence of Ukrainian citizens.
The Unity Centers will provide information, administrative and cultural support to Ukrainians abroad. Among other things, these centers will also provide assistance in finding employment in Ukraine.
How many Ukrainians remain outside the country
According to UN data cited by the National Bank, the number of Ukrainian migrants outside Ukraine exceeded 6.9 million as of March 20, 2025.
According to the latest Eurostat data, non-EU citizens who left Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression and had temporary protection status in the EU amounted to just over 4.26 million as of March 31, 2025.

Compared to February 2025, the total number of persons under temporary protection in the EU at the end of March decreased by 45,455 (minus 1.1%).
According to Oleksiy Chernyshov, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of National Unity, at least 30% of Ukrainians who went abroad because of the war are ready to return home immediately after it ends, while the rest are considering this possibility in the future.
