“Ukrposhta will complete the transition to automated parcel processing on February 3, which will reduce delivery time across Ukraine to one day. This was announced by the company’s CEO Ihor Smelyansky in an interview withtheInterfax-Ukraine agency, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to him, starting next Monday, February 3, the automation process will be finally completed and Ukrposhta will process 100% of parcels on robotic lines.
“Delivery, as we promised, will take place the next day,” Smelyansky said.
According to Smelyansky, last year Ukrposhta invested UAH 1 billion of its own funds in automating the processes of sorting centers.
“Ukrposhta invests a lot. In 2024, more than UAH 1 billion of our own funds were invested in automation. We spent it on purchasing equipment from domestic manufacturers,” he added
He also added that due to the fact that Ukrposhta invested its own funds in the project, €60 million of the loan remained unused. The company intends to initiate the redirection of these funds to programs for Ukrposhta Bank and plans to hold talks with lenders – the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
As of November 1, Ukrposhta switched to automated sorting of parcels, which will allow it to deliver parcels between cities in one day.
Starting January 1, 2025, Ukrposhta will introduce a parcel delivery tariff approach that will depend on the volume rather than weight.
Meanwhile, charitable contributions at Ukrposhta have become compulsory, and Ukrposhta CEO Smelyansky receives up to UAH 2 million in salary per month.
