On 20 June, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting dedicated to Ukraine’s energy security. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" reports with reference to the official Telegram channel of the Ukrainian leader.

During the meeting, according to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, specific solutions were found to help the domestic energy sector.

Firstly, the government was instructed to immediately present a programme to stimulate the installation of solar generation and energy storage in Ukraine, the most favourable programme possible. It should be similar to the “5-7-9” programme, but with zero per cent interest per annum in hryvnia for citizens.

Secondly, a clear plan was developed to complete all protective structures for the energy sector, and a clear deadline for completion of work was set for each such facility. The President stressed that these processes should be accelerated by executors at every level.

In addition, the participants of the meeting decided that all public and administrative facilities in the country, as well as all critical infrastructure facilities, need appropriate alternative energy sources.

“The state will continue to work to create new energy generation and new decentralised energy facilities. Specific projects should be approved and deadlines for each of them should be presented,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

He also added that Ukraine should much more actively stimulate the construction of new balancing and shunting capacities for the energy sector.
