“Ukrzaliznytsia has decided to completely dismantle the Fastiv railway station building destroyed in a Russian drone attack on December 6, 2025. Instead, the company plans to build a modern transportation hub that will meet modern standards of barrier-free access, safety, and energy efficiency. This was announced on Facebook by the mayor of the city, Mykhailo Netiazhuk, reports "Komersant Ukrainian"
During the construction of the new station, a temporary modular structure is planned to be installed on the platform.
Currently, the railroad workers have organized a mobile tent near the destroyed station to serve passengers.
Why the destroyed station will not be rebuilt
Following a meeting of the attack response headquarters chaired by Oleksandr Pertsovsky, Ukrzaliznytsia decided to build a new station in Fastiv.
The management recognized that it would be inappropriate to fully restore the destroyed building, as it is less economically feasible than building a new one.
“Following a meeting of the headquarters for eliminating the consequences of the enemy attack chaired by Ukrzaliznytsia CEO Oleksandr Pertsovsky, a decision was made to completely dismantle the damaged structure and build a new station in Fastiv. During the construction of the new station, a temporary modular structure is planned to be installed on the platform,” the statement said.
The community will participate in the selection of the future project
An important part of the process will be the public discussion procedure.
Local residents will be given the opportunity to
- join the discussion of the concept of the new station;
- make suggestions on functionality and design;
- influence decisions on services to be integrated into the future project.
What was destroyed during the attack on Fastiv
On the night of December 6, 2025, the Russian occupiers launched a massive attack on the Kyiv region. Several railway infrastructure facilities were damaged in Fastiv:
- the station building of Fastiv I station was completely destroyed;
- the locomotive and motor car depot were damaged;
- the track dispatch center of the railway junction was put out of commission.
These facilities play an important role in the operation of suburban trains and in ensuring the stability of rail transportation in Kyiv and the central region.
On the night of December 8, 2025, Russian troops attacked Fastiv again, setting fire to the roofs of three- and one-story buildings over an area of about 1,500 m².
