Ukrzaliznytsia tightens control over boarding trains: what has changed

25 July 2025 08:18

“Ukrzaliznytsia is strengthening document control when passengers board trains. From now on, paramilitary security groups will work selectively at stations, and train crews will check the data in tickets more carefully. This was reported by the press service of UZ in the Telegram channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“In recent days, we have received a number of appeals regarding improper control of documents by train crews – in particular, whether the name on the ticket and the passport of the passenger match. Therefore, Ukrzaliznytsia is stepping up its pre-boarding document checks: paramilitary security teams will be working selectively at stations. And train crews have received additional instructions for thorough data verification,” the company said.

UZ also noted that it already has a number of control tools that have been in place for more than two years. For example, verification through Diia is required to purchase tickets for popular international flights. In addition, hundreds of passengers with tickets in someone else’s name have already been denied access to trains.

OLX also blocks fraudsters trying to resell tickets. The company urged citizens to notify Ukrzaliznytsia if they notice such ads.
