Ukrzaliznytsia has changed its routes: how trains will now travel to Kharkiv and Uzhhorod

Ukrzaliznytsia is temporarily adjusting train traffic in the Sumy region due to regular threats of shelling of railway infrastructure. According to the carrier’s press service, the changes apply, in particular, to transit trains running between Uzhhorod and Kharkiv. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Ukrzaliznytsia.
Which trains will take a different route
Trains No. 45/46 and No. 113/114 connecting Uzhhorod and Kharkiv will temporarily run on a southern route — through Lubny, Myrhorod, Poltava, and Lyubotyn.
The company notes that such adjustments are necessary to minimize risks to passengers and rolling stock in conditions of constant threats.
Additional express train Kharkiv-Sumy
In order to maintain convenient connections for residents of the region, the railway company has scheduled an additional daily express train No. 213/214 Kharkiv-Sumy. It will become the main “bridge” for transfers.
In Kharkiv, after arriving from Sumy, passengers will be able to transfer to trains to Uzhhorod, Kholm, Vorokhta, Chernivtsi, Odesa, and Peremyshl.
In Sumy, passengers from Kharkiv will transfer to train No. 775/776 Sumy-Kyiv, and from the capital, they can reach virtually any destination in Ukraine or abroad.
How to get there for residents of Konotop and Bakhmach
Residents of Konotop and Bakhmach will be able to get to Kharkiv by train No. 144/143 Rakhiv-Sumy with a subsequent transfer to the new Sumy-Kharkiv flight.
How to search for tickets
Passengers are advised to search for tickets in the app or on the Ukrzaliznytsia website using the “with transfers” option — the system will automatically select the fastest route options, taking into account connections.
Why the changes were introduced now
The announcement also reminded that on February 9, Russia again attacked the railway in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions: a locomotive and the contact network were damaged.
Due to constant targeted strikes on infrastructure, the carrier is forced to quickly change routes and schedules to ensure passenger safety and stability of transportation.
